BR Standard 9F (Tyne Dock)

Designed by R. A. Riddles for British Railways and introduced in 1954 these 2-10-0 engines saw service from South Wales to East Anglia and Southampton to Carlisle.
A batch of 10 built in 1956 numbered 92060-92066 and 92097-92099 were fitted with Westinghouse Air Pumps to operate the doors on the Iron Ore hoppers running from Tyne Dock to Consett Steel Works.
They were built with part of the running plate missing on the right hand running board to accommodate the two pumps

BR number series 92000-92019 and 92030-92250
92060-92066 and 92097-92099 were fitted with Westinghouse Air Pumps
The last locomotive was withdrawn in 1966.
None with the pumps have been preserved.
