NBR/LNER/BR J83

Due to the increased need for shunting and transfer freight locomotives the North British Railway asked their Chief Mechanical Engineer Holmes to designed this class of 0-6-0 Tank locomotives.
Introduced between 1900 and 1901 these 40 locomotives spent their entire life allocated between Glasgow Edinburgh, Fyfe and Dundee.
One even ventured as far as Ayr in 1961.
Some locomotives were fitted with Westinghouse brakes and could be found on station pilot duties at Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street.

BR Number series 68442-68481
Last locomotive withdrawn 1962.
None have been preserved.
