LSWR/SR/BR Class 700 0-6-0
Designed and built by D. Drummond for the LSWR in 1897 these locomotives were rebuilt by Urie between 1920 and 1929 with new boiler, smokebox and increased cylinder size.
The rebuilt locomotives could be distinguished by their extended smokeboxes which were enlarged to cater for the new superheaters.
Most of the loco’s lives were spent between London and the South West mostly on freight duties.
The power class of 4F allocated in 1948 to these locos was downgraded to 3F in 1953.

BR number series 30306, 30368, & 30687-30701
Last Locomotive withdrawn in 1962.
None have been preserved.

The 700 class Drummonds sounds are generic as there are none in preservation.
