BR Standard 3. 2-6-0
The British Railways 2-6-0 Standard 3 locomotives were a tender version of the Standard 3 Tank . Introduced in 1954 they, numerically, were the smallest class of BR Standard locomotives only 20 were produced all built in Swindon.
All are allocated to the Scottish and North Eastern regions of the BR system.
Used on mixed traffic duties their weight allowed them access to routes that had a weight restriction on the heavier classes of locomotive.


BR number series 77000-77019.
Last locomotive withdrawn in 1967.
None have been preserved.

The Std 3 sounds are generic as there are none in preservation.
