Baldwin, Lynton and Barnstaple 2-4-2T

It was soon after opening that it was found that a further locomotive was required, especially for their summer service.
The British locomotive builders at the time had full order books, and so an alternative source of supply was needed.
The answer was to order from the United States.
Baldwin was the chosen builder and in July 1898 Lyn arrived.
This locomotive had an American outline with 3 domes, two of which were for sand.
In 1923 when the line was amalgamated into the Southern Railway number 762 was allocated.
