LMS/BR 0F Sentinel

LMS/BR 0F Sentinel
Following on from the success of a demonstration locomotive from the Sentinel Wagon Works Ltd’s standard industrial shunter in 1929 the LMS bought four of their two speed shunters.
The locos were similar to the LNER Class Y3.
It is interesting to note that the GWR had the same demonstration loco on loan in 1926-1927 and rejected it, possibly due to the number of small shunters that they inherited during the amalgamation of railways in 1922.
The LMS Sentinels could be found in Preston Ayr, Gorton Crewe and Shrewsbury shunting in small yards and works.
