Baldwin Class 10-12-D 4-6-0T.
495 locomotives of this class were built from 1916 for use of the Allied Armies during WW1
for the transportation of men, supplies and ordnance.
The rail gauge was 1ft 11.5 inches with a weight of 14.5tons.
Many were sold after their military use to narrow gauge public and industrial railways throughout the world.
In Britain examples going to the Glyn Valley Tramway, Welsh Highland Railway, Snailbeach District Railways and the Ashover Light Railway.
Alco built a similar locomotive but with a 2-6-2T wheel arrangement.

W.D. number series 501-545, 701-1150 (note 1005-1150 were renumbered in the 546-700 sequence in 1917).
There is a preserved example No.778 (Baldwin Works No. 44656 of 1917) running in the UK.


The Baldwin sounds have been recorded from the prototype.
Not all functions are available on all locomotives.
