LNER/GNR/BR K2
Designed by Gresley of the Great Northern Railway for general mixed traffic work these 2cylinder locos were introduced in 1912 with production continuing up to 1921 in total 75 were built.
From 1931-1937 onwards the original batch built in 1912 and 1913 which had small boilers were rebuilt with larger boilers making them equivalent to the 1914-1921 batch.
In 1925 a number of the class were transferred to Scotland and were given side window cabs.
The area of operation was from Mallaig ,Aberdeen, Immingham, Stratford, Colwick and Gorton.

BR Number series 61720-61794
The last locomotive was withdrawn from BR stock in 1962.
None have been preserved.


The K2/2 sounds are generic as there are none in preservation.
