LNER/BR O1
In 1944 Thompson rebuilt a Robinson O4 with a boiler of the same type as those used on the B1s.
The rebuilds had Walschaert’s valve gear and new side window cabs.
The resulting locomotives had a tractive effort 13% greater than the original O4 due to increased boiler pressure.
In all 58 engines were rebuilt, the last one being rebuilt in 1949 whilst in BR ownership.
The locomotives could be found from Newcastle to March and Hull to Manchester working on freight trains mainly on coal and mineral.

BR Number series from 63571-63901with gaps.

The last locomotive was withdrawn from BR stock in 1965.
None have been preserved.

The LNER 01 sounds are generic as none have been preserved.

The file has been updated to the new functions.
