Midland/LMS/BR 3F 0-6-0
This class of locomotive originally built by Johnson can generally be broken down into 3 sections.
No’s 43174-43189 and 43750 with 4ft11in wheels originally built in 1875-1882 were rebuilt by Fowler in 1916.
The rest built with 5ft 3in wheels are as follows 43191-43749 & 43751-43763 were rebuilt by Deeley from 1903 and by Fowler from 1916.
The final group 43765-43833 were built new from 1903-1908 by Deeley to the same design as the other 5ft 3in rebuilds.
Some of the 43191-4349 series were produced for the Somerset and Dorset Railway and could be found on all manner of services there.
Used by the LMS generally on freight trains the locomotives had an operating range from Carlisle to London and Manchester to Bristol and Swansea.
They could be found, only occasionally, on passenger workings on Summer Saturdays.

None are preserved.
