LNER/BR L1
Designed during WWII by Thompson the first L1 2-6-4T locomotive was built in 1945 but due to austerity conditions prevailing at the time the next locomotive did not enter servicer until January 1948 the rest following quickly, the class being complete by September 1950.
Power class was 4MT.
The majority therefore entered straight into BR stock without receiving LNER numbers.
The purpose of the L1s was initially intended for the Kings Cross and Marylebone suburban traffic they found their way onto rural lines all over the Eastern region of BR running stopping passenger, parcels and freight trains.

BR number series 67701-67800.
Last Locomotive withdrawn 1962.
None have been preserved.

The LNER L1 sounds are generic as none have been preserved.
