GWR 2251 ‘Collett Goods’





GWR/BR 2251 (Collett Goods)
Designed by Collett and introduced in 1930 and produced up to Nationalisation in 1948. No. 3218 was actually the first loco to enter service from Swindon works under the BR banner.
The locomotives were built to replace the now ageing Dean Goods.
Allocate the yellow route availability they were very versatile engines often being used on passenger and freight trains.
They could be found working all over Wales to London and also Plymouth.
The BR power classification for the type was 3MT.


BR Number series 2200-2299 & 3200-3219

Last Locomotive withdrawn in 1965
