London Transport Pannier Tanks L89-L99
Originally GWR/BR Pannier Tank 5700 class.
Between 1956 and 1963 London Transport bought a number of ex GWR Pannier Tank locomotives from British Railways.
Originally designed by Collett and built over a 30-year period from 1929-1949 these 0-6-0 pannier tank locomotives would work out their final days on London Transport departmental trains.
Although 11 were originally purchased two L90 and L91 were withdrawn in 1960 and 1961 and replaced by similar locomotives from B.R which were then used the numbers of the locos they replaced.
Last locomotive withdrawn 1971, 6 of the L.T. Locomotives have been preserved
