Pressed Steel Co. Class 121 DMU

Pressed Steel Co. Class121

Coupling code Blue Square.

Introduced in 1960 these single car units built by Pressed Steel Co. were intended for light short distance branch line work and had high density seating and no toilet facilities.
They were very similar to the Gloucester class 122’s.
The motor cars were powered by 2 BUT(AEC) 150hp horizontal 6 cylinder engines or Leyland equivalents.
These 15 single car units with cabs at each end were supplemented by10 non powered driving trailers so that capacity could be increased when required.
The units later became known as 121 under the TOPS numbering scheme and were originally allocated to the Western Region.

10 individual cars have been preserved.
