LMS/BR Stanier 8F
Introduced by W. A. Stanier in 1935 this 2-8-0 locomotive class were designed for heavy freight work.
They could be found all over the LMS and later London Midland and Scottish Regions of British Railways.
Some built during WWII were used on the GWR and LNER (the LNER Classified the locos as O6)but these locos were returned to LMS stock in 1946.
The War Department ordered a number of these locos and used them on the Longmoor Military Railway, the Cairnryan Military Railway as well as for service in Egypt, Iran & Turkey.


BR number series 48000-48775
The last locomotive was withdrawn in 1968.
6 have been preserved.



The 8F sounds have been recorded from the prototype.
