LNER J50

LNER/BR J50
Designed by Nigel Gresley for freight and shunting work these 0-6-0T locomotives were first introduced in 1913, then in 1929 were rebuilt with larger boilers and slightly larger cylinders.
BR allocated power class 4F to these locos.
Additions to the class continued until the outbreak of WWII.
More would have been built but after the war the LNER decided to purchase surplus WD (J94) locos instead.
These locomotives could be found all over the Eastern and North eastern regions of BR on shunting and station pilot duties.

BR number series 68890-68991 and Departmental 10-16

The last capital locomotive was withdrawn in 1963.
The last departmental in 1965.
None have been preserved.

The J50 sounds are generic as there are none in preservation.

The sounds are enhanced with archived sounds.

There is only one sound available as these locomotives were only used on shunting and station pilot duties with the occasional very short local freight trip.
