Class G601 0-4-0
With the need to economise especially on lightly used branches C.I.E. purchased three 130hp locomotives from Deutz in Germany, they were delivered in 1956/7.
It was intended to use them on freight and passenger or mixed services, but that was not enough to save the lightly used branches.
The locomotives were found use elsewhere and proved most useful leading to the purchase of the G611 class.
