GWR/BR 4575
This class introduced in 1927 under the direction of Collett was a further development of the 45XX class with increased water capacity.
Like the 45XX class these locomotives could be found scattered all over the Western Region.
14 members of the class were auto-fitted, this allowed them to work with autotrailers in what is commonly known as push-pull mode.
BR number series 4575-4599, 5500-5574
Last Locomotive withdrawn in 1967.
11 have been preserved.
The 4575 sounds have been recorded from the prototype.
