LMS/BR 3F Tank 'Jinty'
The LMS standard shunting locomotive 422 being built from 1924-1931.
Designed by Fowler these locomotives were a development of the earlier Johnson Midland Railway design.
The locomotives became widespread throughout the LMS Network.
Two of the class reached Northern Ireland on the NCC system after conversion to 5ft 3in gauge. Although designed as shunting locomotives they could be found on suburban passenger trains from London to Scotland.
Eight were given Push-Pull apparatus for working services in South Wales.
They could even be found piloting larger locomotives on the Somerset and Dorset Railway.

10 have been preserved.
