NER,LNER/BR Y7
In 1888 Worsdell of the North Eastern Railway introduced his Class H (Later LNER Class Y7) for working in areas with tight curvature, 19 were produced.
In 1923 a further 5 were built.
They were light engines given a power class of 0F and were used as shunting engines that could work in confined areas of factories and docks, mostly in the North East.
Some were fitted with dumb buffers inside the standard ones for working with cauldron wagons in the North-East. Of the 24 built two entered BR stock on Nationalisation in 1948.
68088 became a Departmental locomotive in 1952 at Stratford where it was allocated but never carried Departmental No.34.
Those sold on for further use ended up in collieries, docks and quarries.
