Kerr, Stuart & Co. 0-6-0T ‘Victory’
In 1916/17 ten 0-6-0 Tank locomotives were built by Kerr, Stuart & Co. built, at their works in Stoke on Trent, for the Inland Waterways and Docks.
Only two were delivered to the IW&D the rest going into ROD Stock directly.
The Original 2 were later transferred to the ROD
The locomotives weighted 50 tons had 4ft driving wheels and a pair of outside cylinders 17in x 24in
On cessation of hostilities all were sold to industrial users and smaller railway systems.
One was sold to the East Kent Railway which ended up in BR Southern Region Stock.
Two others sold to Alexandra Docks which eventually ended up as BR Western Region Stock.
One was sold to The Brecon & Merthyr Railway then onto Ashington Colliery.
Seven ended up in NCB Stock which included the Ashington Colliery one.
A Giesel ejector was fitted by the NCB to the Victory used on their Walkden network of lines.
None have been preserved.
