GWR/BR 7400 Class
These locomotives designed by Collett were built in two batches 1936 -1937 and 1948-1950.
The second batch being taken directly into BR Stock.
Intended for light branch work these locomotives were similar to the 6400 class but were not fitted for Autotrailer working, therefore, if working passenger trains would need to run round at each end of the journey so that the locomotive was in front.
The locomotives were classified as power class 2F by BR and spent most of their lives on branch lines and could be found shedded between Carmarthen, Oxford, Stourbridge and Wrexham.
BR number series 7400-7449.
Last Locomotive withdrawn 1965.
None have been preserved.
The GWR 7400 sounds are generic as there are none in preservation.
The sounds are enhanced with archived sounds.
