Churchward 2-6-0 (GWR/BR Class 4300)
In September 1917 11 new Churchward Class 4300s, were shipped to France straight from Swindon.
They were allocated to a depot near Calais where they worked the most important supply trains to the front’s distribution yards replacing the slower LNWR
W.D. WW1 Number series.
BR Whole Class Number series 4303-4386, 5300-5399, 6300-6399 and 7300-7341.
Last locomotive withdrawn 1964.
2 have been preserved.
One new build, a conversion from a 5101 Class 2-6-2T is currently underway.
