BR/GWR 38XX 2-8-0
In 1938 there was a need for further freight locomotives of the 2800 class.
They were built with detail differences and a side window cab which gave them a more modern appearance.
The number series chosen was 2884-2899 and 3800-3866 (re-using the numbers from withdrawn County 4-4-0s).
The correct class name is 2884 but they latterly became known as 3800s.
The locomotives were classified as power class 8F by BR and spent their entire lives on heavy freight trains and could be found shedded between Plymouth and Chester and Old Oak Common to Llanelly.
BR number series 2884 class 2884-2899, 3800-3866.
Last Locomotive withdrawn 1965.
7 28XX and 8 2884 class have been preserved
The GWR 38xx sounds have been recorded from 28xx the prototype.
The file has been updated to the new functions.
