SECR/SR/BR H Class 0-4-4

SECR/SR/BR H Class 0-4-4
Designed by Wainwright and introduced in 1904 and continued to be produced up until 1915.
Sixty-six engines were built in total 64 of which entered BR stock in 1948.
They were intended for fast inner and outer suburban work but due to electrification they found their way onto rural branch lines.
From 1949 up until 1961 members of the class were fitted with push pull apparatus so the driver could control the train from either end negating the need for running round at each end of the journey.
Their area of operation was from South London and the South East.
The furthest sheds that they would have strayed west to in BR days would have been Brighton, Three Bridges and Nine Elms.

BR Number series 31005-31554 with gaps.

Last locomotive withdrawn 1964.
One has been preserved.
The file has been updated to the new functions.
Not all functions are available on all locomotives.
