NER/LNER/BR J72
Built between 1898 and 1951, these locomotives deigned by Worsdell (yes that isn’t a typo they were actually built over a 53-year period) were intended for light shunting work.
Five batches of the design were built between 1898 and 1925, then another 28 were built for British railways between 1949 and 1951.
During 1960 two 68723 and 68736 were painted in North Eastern Railway lined green and used as station pilots.

BR Numbers allocated 68670-68754, 69001-69028
The last locomotive was withdrawn in 1964 but two were transferred to departmental stock for use as de-icing work and lasted until 1967.
One has been preserved.

The J72 sounds have been recorded from the prototype.
