BR Standard 4 2-6-4 Tanks
These Riddles designed BR Standard 2-6-4 Tank locomotives were a development of the LMS Stanier and Fairburn 2-6-4 Tanks.
As part of the BR Standard Fleet introduced in 1951 production continued up until 1957.
They had a fair turn of speed when used on semi-fast and suburban passenger services.
These 2-6-4 locos classified 4MT were originally allocated to all regions of BR apart from the Western.
They did, however, move into the ex Cambrian lines plus Bristol, Old Oak Common and the Somerset & Dorset lines from 1962 onwards.
BR number series 80000-80154
Last Locomotive withdrawn in 1967.
15 have been preserved
The Std 4 sounds have been recorded from the prototype.
