LMS Royal Scot
LMS/BR 7P Royal Scot
The Royal Scots were designed by Fowler in 1927 with a parallel boiler.
In 1935 Stanier rebuilt the high pressure 4-6-0 locomotive Fury to become 6170 (BR No. 46170) using the original frames and wheels.
This rebuilt locomotive formed the basis for rebuilding all of the Royal Scot class commencing in 1943. The last to be rebuilt was 46137 ‘The Prince of Wales Volunteers (South Lancashire)’ in 1955.
They could be found all over the LMS system on trunk routes some finishing their days on the Great Central, which was taken over by the Midland Region prior to closure of the route.
BR number series 46100-46170.
Last Locomotive withdrawn in 1964.
