Lynton and Barnstaple 2-6-2T

Manning Wardle, Lynton and Barnstaple 2-6-2T
In 1897 the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway ordered 3 locomotives from Manning Wardle & Co. of Leeds which seemed sufficient for their services which started in 1898.
A fourth locomotive of the same type would have been ordered but
Lyn was ordered instead.
In 1923 the Southern Railway took over the running of the line and realised that due to the need for ongoing maintenance of the existing fleet a further locomotive would be required.
In 1925
Lew No. 188 arrived.
The new locomotive supplied by Manning Wardle had a few detail differences the main ones including a different style cab.
The line continued in use until 1935.
All the locomotives apart from Lew, which was sold to a company in Brazil, were scrapped.
