Standard USA/TC 0-6-0T
Designed for the United States Army Transportation Corps and built in 1942-3 these short wheelbase tank locomotives were designed for use on the liberated railways of Europe.
After hostilities the locomotives were sold on to various operators throughout Europe.
The Southern Railway buying 14 plus a spare for parts.
After modifications were made to the cabs they were used as dock shunters at Southampton.
Three (1944,4372 & 6006) were sold to the National Coal Board becoming their 35,31 & 36 respectively.
One (1938) to Austin Motors at Longbridge.
Many were sold to the nationalised railways in Europe including SNCF (France), JZ (Jugoslavia) who took large numbers.
Others to take fewer were OBB (Austria), HSR (Greece), China, JGR (Jamaica) FS (Italy), and Russia is reported to have had some converted to 5 ft gauge.

4382 became No. WD300 on the Longmoor Military Railway
BR Number series 30061-30074 (Departmental series DS233-DS238)
Last locomotive withdrawn from BR 1967.
4 BR locos have been preserved the fate of others is unknown.
