GWR Pannier Tank 8750
GWR/BR Pannier Tank 8750 class.
Designed by Collett and built over a 16-year period from 1933-1949 these 0-6-0 pannier tank locomotives could be found all over the GWR and later Western region of British Railways.
Their duties involved pick up freight, yard work, empty stock workings, pilot duties and passenger workings. The 8750 class were like the 5700 class but with detail alterations and a modified cab which gave greater visibility and greater weather protection for the crew.
Further examples were sold on after BR use to collieries and other industrial concerns.
A note for modellers.
8700 although included with the 8750 class, due to detail alterations did have the original 5700 class cab
