Hunslet Austerity Saddle Tank Industrial
Built between 1943 and 1946 these 0-6-0ST locomotives were built for the Ministry of Supply.
After the war the majority were sold on.
The LNER bought 75 of them and classified them as class J94 others were sold to various industries.
They could be found in industrial use many of these locomotives were provided to work in collieries, docks, quarries and factories throughout the UK.
Those which were not sold on were found employment working for the Army and in ordnance factories. The design was so popular that production continued after the war right up until 1964 with a total of 485 of the class being built.
2 ex BR locos and over 60 ex industrial ones have been preserved.
The Hunslet Industrial locomotive sounds have been recorded from the prototype.
