Metropolitan Cammell Class 101
Coupling code Blue Square.
Introduced in 1956 these 2,3 and 4 car units were designed and built by Metropolitan Cammell.
The Class 101 as they later became known were the largest batch of DMU vehicles operated by B.R.
Over 600 individual cars being built.
Powered by 2 BUT(AEC) 150hp horizontal 6 cylinder engines these units were originally allocated to the North Eastern, London Midland and Scottish Regions.
Later on some were allocated to the Western.
Over 40 individual cars have been preserved.
