Irish Class 071 & 201 Projects & Functions
Wheeltappers have developed the Irish class 071 & 201 sound files to be as prototypical as possible.
We do however appreciate that this will not satisfy everyones needs.
The new Irish class 071 & 201 decoders are on ESU version 5 decoders only as this decoder only supports the extra flexibility needed to control the lighting functions, consist mode running and ‘Load’ mode.
For those that are not using sound but just DCC we have developed a none sound decoder that will control the motor and lights.
A full list of functions are available on our website on the Irish class 071 & 201 pages under sound and none sound functions.
Features of the class 071 & 201 sound files include, Drive hold, Normal and emergency braking, Kadee shuffle uncoupling, Wagon buffer clash, Station announcements, Shunting, train mode and load mode.
Station announcements can be changed by altering the value in CV155.
Here is a list of station announcements available.
CV155=0 Cork, CV155=1 Galway, CV155=2 Newbridge, CV155=3 Limerick, CV155=4 Waterford, CV155=5 Tralee, CV155=6 Athlone, CV155=7 Kildare, CV155=8 Kilkenny.
A new feature we are adding is the ‘Load’ feature.
This feature simulates the driving and braking of the locomotive under load.
The default setting is for a medium train of around 4 coaches or short freight train.
By selecting Function 17 (F17) you can change to a light engine mode.
This increases the acceleration as the loco has no load and alters the deceleration and stopping distances when the brakes are applied with Function 5 or 6 (F5 & F6) due to no load.
By selecting Function 18 (F18) the driving characteristics are changed to a heavy load train of more than 4 coaches or a long freight train.
This will over ride F17 if on and alter the acceleration and deceleration of the train and also increase the braking distance when stopping.
These projects are well over due an upgrade and as the models are getting on some not all of the lighting features are as up to date as some of the newer models available so some manual switching of the lights will may be needed to suit.
We are always on the lookout for ideas as to what to add to our sound decoders and are always adding new locomotives to our list.
