This locomotive was loaned to the Great Northern Railway in 1954 as a demonstrator from Maschinenbau Germany in the hope of procuring further orders.
Its 800bhp engine drove 8 coupled wheels via a Voith hydraulic transmission and as such was unique in Ireland.
When the demonstration period ended the locomotive was bought by the Great Northern Railway then passed to C.I.E in 1958.
After withdrawal the locomotive was used as a stationary generator at Galway Metal (scrap merchants)
