NIR Class 101 Hunslet
NIR Class101
The 3 locomotives were designed by Hunslet for use on the Belfast Dublin 'Enterprise' service.
They were built at BR Doncaster works on sub-contract to Hunslet and were introduce in 1970.
They had a English Electric 8CSVT diesel engine developing 1350hp. and 353AZ traction motors providing a Maximum speed of 80mph which was considered sufficient for the service level required.
They worked mainly between Belfast and Dublin but could be seen on other routes in Northern Ireland.
The 3 locomotives numbered 101 Eagle, 102 Falcon & 103 Merlin worked up to1994, 1998, &1989 respectively.
No 102 at one time became the Adelaide yard pilot before being placed in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

One has been preserved as a static Exhibit.
As the class 101 Hunslet’s are no longer running the sounds are generic.
The sounds have been enhanced with archived sounds.
